- $124,000 - $137,000 per annum + 11.5% Superannuation

Are you an experienced Senior Scientist or Laboratory Manager looking to take the next step in your career? This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a Chief Scientist – Immunopathology & Infectious Immunoassay role, where you’ll lead high-performing teams, oversee advanced diagnostic services, and help shape the future of laboratory operations within a major public healthcare provider in Canberra.
This 24/7 laboratory service operates across multiple hospital sites and community collection centres, supporting both inpatient and outpatient care. The role offers a rare chance to blend scientific leadership, innovation, and public health impact in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES COULD INCLUDE:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Immunopathology & Infectious Immunoassay laboratory.
- Lead a team of professionals across multiple sites, ensuring effective workforce planning, rostering, and human resources management.
- Coordinate and deliver training and professional development across classifications.
- Spearhead the implementation of new technologies, equipment, and testing methods in consultation with clinical and operational leadership.
- Maintain and improve laboratory quality systems to meet NATA and NSQHS accreditation standards.
- Contribute to operational strategy, safety, service delivery, and performance management.
- Represent ACT Pathology on internal and external committees as needed.
MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Tertiary qualification in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a senior diagnostic laboratory role.
- Availability for occasional weekend, after-hours work, and participation in a 24/7 on-call roster
