Database Technical Lead
- Estimated Start Date: 1st of November 2024
- Initial Contract Duration: 12 Months
- Extension Term: Up to 24 months
- Location of Work: ACT, Canberra. Minimum of 3 days per week on-site
- Security Clearance: Must hold Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1)
Role Overview:
The Expert Mainframe Database Technical Lead will provide leadership and technical expertise across a range of mainframe database platforms, ensuring the high availability, integrity, and performance of critical systems. The role involves leading database migrations, monitoring system performance, and supporting the rollout of enterprise-wide database solutions.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Lead the administration and management of RDBMS systems, providing expert advice and guidance to the Database Operations team.
- Support the migration of SAP workloads from Oracle to Db2 on z/OS.
- Oversee the rollout and maintenance of IBM Mainframe tools for the Db2 z/OS environment.
- Plan and implement software updates for the Db2 z/OS platform.
- Provide production support and in-depth performance analysis of Db2 z/OS systems.
- Collaborate with SAP Operations, application teams, and external vendors to ensure best practices for database interoperability.
- Manage change processes using Service Manager and contribute to project deliverables.
- Mentor and coach team members on mainframe database technologies.
- Develop team capabilities through training and documentation.
- Assist with resource planning and identify staff development needs.
- Conduct research and analysis to recommend optimal database practices to management and colleagues.
Key Technologies & Criteria:
- SQL, z/OS, Db2, SAP HANA, ObjectStar, IMS.
- 5+ years of experience with IBM Db2 tools (e.g., Recovery Expert, Clone Tool).
- Expertise in monitoring and diagnostics using tools like Omegamon and Query Monitor.
- Experience rolling out maintenance for Db2 on mainframe systems.
- Proficiency with z/OS interfaces (ISPF, REXX, JCL) and z/OS software installation methodologies (SMP/E).
