Data Engineer (DTP)

• Estimated start date: 1 October 2024
• Initial contract duration: Until 30 June 2025
• Extension term: Potential for 12 months
• Location of work: ACT, Hybrid

Role Overview:

The Data Engineer will work within a digital transformation program, supporting data and analytics platforms. The role focuses on developing Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) and Extract, Load, Transform (ELT) processes, as well as building complex data visualisations to support decision-making. Using modern cloud technologies, the engineer will help prepare data for operational analytics.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test data movement and transformation processes.
• Work with modern cloud technologies (Azure) for data preparation.
• Build data pipelines optimised for performance in distributed computing environments.
• Develop and interpret data visualisations using Power BI.
• Collaborate within an Agile team for development projects.

Desirable Skills:

• Proficiency in SQL, Python, R, .Net
• Experience with Azure Machine Learning, Databricks, and ArcGIS Enterprise
• Familiarity with tools such as DevOps, Visual Studio, and VS Code
• Experience with Parquet and Delta data preparation

Essential Criteria:

• Strong experience with ETL/ELT processes in a cloud environment.
• Knowledge of distributed computing engines (Spark), SQL, and cloud infrastructure services.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an Agile team.
