ICT Senior Project Manager

  • Initial Contract Duration: 12 Months
  • Extension Term: 12 Months x2
  • Location of Work: ACT, Canberra - Candidates must work onsite 5 days per week.
  • Security Clearance: Must have Negative Vetting Level 1
  • APS Equivalent Level: EL2

Role Overview:

The ICT Senior Project Manager will be responsible for overseeing the project’s purpose and status, ensuring that all project goals and timeframes are met. The role involves managing the design, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of project outputs. The Senior Project Manager will play a crucial role in managing strategic stakeholders across various tiers of government to drive project implementation and integration at the operational level. The position also involves leading innovation, managing change, and contributing to the agency's strategic direction. This role may require on-call support during critical production issues.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Delivery: Lead and deliver projects with an agency-wide impact, developing and implementing project plans and schedules in line with the agency’s project management framework.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project design, governance, and operational integration.
  • Strategic Planning: Lead strategic planning for long-term project initiatives, ensuring that project deliverables and milestones are met on time and within budget.
  • Staff Management: Lead and manage staff, oversee performance, attendance, and wellbeing, and develop staff capability through coaching and succession planning.
  • High-Level Strategic Advice: Provide strategic advice and feedback to stakeholders and the agency's executive, and represent the agency in external forums.
  • Project Evaluation: Research, review, and evaluate project performance, ensuring quality management to meet client needs.
  • Budget Management: Manage and monitor financial budgets, oversee contracts, procurement, resources, and expenditure, and address project risks and issues.
  • Innovation and Change Management: Drive innovation, manage and lead change, and contribute to the agency’s strategic direction.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage, negotiate, and manage key strategic stakeholder relationships to deliver projects and respond to changing needs and expectations.
