Position Title: Diesel Fitter / Serviceperson

Department: Organisational Services

Program: Procurement & Plant

Position Objective

To maintain Council’s Plant and Equipment Fleet to a high standard providing mechanical expertise

to our clients, both internal and external to Mackay Regional Council.

Key Responsibilities

Shall include, but not be limited to:

1. Effective provision of mechanical services for the repair, maintenance and servicing of Council's

plant and equipment.

2. Completion of all required documentation.

3. Provide trade guidance and assistance as part of a work team.

4. Other responsibilities as directed by your immediate supervisor within the scope of this position.

Position Capabilities:

Qualifications

(Includes Formal Qualifications, Licences, Tickets, Registrations and Professional Memberships)

Essential

• General Construction Induction Training.

• QLD “C” Class Drivers Licence or interstate equivalent. Note: interstate licences must be

transferred to QLD within three (3) months of commencement.

Desirable

• Trade Certificate as a Mechanical tradesperson or Diesel Fitter.

• QLD ‘HR’ Class drivers licence.

• Forklift ticket.

Experience

Essential

• Experience working as a mechanical tradesperson or trades assistant including engines,

transmissions, hydraulics, automotive air-conditioning and auto electrical.

Essential

• Ability to carry out mechanical tasks with a minimum of supervision.

• Ability to work effectively and productively within a team or independently.

Knowledge

Essential

• Knowledge of plant repair and maintenance practices

Organisational Relationships

Reports to: Workshop Team Leader

Supervision of: Nil

Internal Liaison: MRC plant users

External Liaison: External service and parts providers
